The Dalwhinnie Distillery was built in 1897 in the western Highlands. In 1905 this single malt whisky distillery was purchased by an American company, which was the first time that a Scottish distillery came into foreign hands. Meanwhile, Dalwhinnie is in other hands again (Diageo). Dalwhinnie is part of the Classic Malts of Scotland from Diageo. The 15-year standard bottling is very well known. And the small number of independent Dalwhinnie bottlings is striking.
